book club

when i moved home after my year of living in california, one of the things i looked forward to most was being able to spend more time with family. I particularly wanted to be able to spend more time with my grandparents. My mom had an amazing idea while I was living in Cali to start a book club for the women in our family, and after a couple years, this has become a wonderful tradition that I love and look forward to. I do have to admit that I am horrible at actually reading the books we choose, but I do faithfully show up because I absolutely love the opportunity to hear the stories that my grandma always has and love to spend time with her and whatever other family members show up.

I am happy to say that I read almost all of the book for this month! We read the book Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. Its an amazing story based on the real experiences of an olympic runner who becomes a POW during WWII. We had a great discussion about the book and then grandpa joined us and shared with us about some of his experiences in the Navy during WWII. It was so cool to be able to hear these stories from him and don't remember him talking about these experiences many other times. I am so incredibly thankful for the opportunity I've had to spend so much time with my grandparents and hear their stories. its priceless.

have i mentioned how adorable and awesome I think my grandparents are? I love their relationship and love that I can tell that they are still so in love after so many years of marriage. what a beautiful example as Ross & I start our marriage.
