october tradition

One of my favorite places in the world is Townsend Park. As far back as I can remember, we have gone there with family in October on the Sunday nearest to my birthday. Although I think it was probably always a shared birthday celebration with my aunt & great grandpa, as a little girl I sort of assumed it was my birthday party. And because I'll admit it, I kinda really like my birthday, this park became an incredibly special place for me. Not only because it was the location of years of birthday cakes and presents and lots of attention, but because of years and years of amazing family memories built there and the rite of passage into fall that going to "the park" has become.

And knowing how important this place is to me, its also where Ross chose to ask me to marry him, making it an even more sentimental place.

Unfortunately, it was a rainy & dark Sunday last week when we planned to go with all of our family and while we were still able to all get together, we weren't able to experience the magic of the park in the fall. So, even though the colors may not have been as bright this past weekend, Ross & I decided to make our yearly October trip to the park. We were watching Sawyer for the weekend, so he got to join us too. We picked up some fro-yo because it was actually pretty warm and enjoyed it in my favorite place :)

sorry val & alan, sometimes we are pushovers & share just a really tiny bit with him

cheesy senior picture pose! typical of our yearly trips to the park

On the way home we just couldn't pass up the chance for a quick stop at Robinette's for some fresh donuts & apple cider. The short line was 100% worth the wait.

I seriously love traditions. And its even more exciting to be in the process of creating new traditions with Ross that will hopefully continue for years and years to come.
